Director, Brand Marketing

Reporting to the CMO, the Director of Brand Marketing will lead the development of Shutterfly’s marketing strategy, crafting an integrated, solution oriented marketing plan and calendar across all new and existing products and services. Additionally, this individual will lead the continued development of the Shutterfly brand, including management of the lead agency, and will drive development and implementation of all national advertising and promotions.
Most team members of the Brand Marketing Group will play a dual role – not only driving marketing strategy and plans, but also serving as the marketing representative on a product or service business team.
Responsibilities Include:
- Development of Shutterfly’s Annual Strategic Marketing Plan, incorporating brand, business and customer objectives across all new and existing products and services.
- Leadership of a Quarterly Marketing Planning session with key business, customer and merchandising counterparts, where integrated plans will be shared and key tactics prioritized according to business needs and a goal of optimization of all functions.
- Management of the Shutterfly Brand, including positioning, brand architecture, packaging and key messaging to drive relevant differentiation within the competitive landscape.
- Development of the communication strategy, all advertising, direct mail creative and offline media plans. Drive alignment of all marketing communications to ensure consistency.
- Development of innovative cross-channel promotional events to drive awareness, revenue, virality and continued improvement in key consumer dynamics.
- Management of grass root efforts with key consumer groups.
- Management of Advisory Boards and selected Strategic Marketing Partnerships.
- Responsibility for solution oriented micro-sites, eg: travel, wedding.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Ten or more years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, with specific experience in consumer driven brands and digital marketing. Solid understanding of retail and ecommerce.
- Proven track record in managing brands in a highly competitive market space.
- Balanced leadership style that allows for strategic and business skills, a high level of intellectual agility and capacity for original thoughts, and the ability to be hands-on and lead by example.
- The ability to successfully develop and execute programs utilizing both direct resources as well as matrix resources.
- Success in a matrix organization.
- Builder and motivator of teams.
- MBA preferred.
